WorkSafe WA has developed a checklist to highlight workplace safety issues in sports and recreation clubs. The checklist provides information on how to best manage those risks to minimise workplace injuries and comply with occupational safety and health legislation.
WorkSafe Director Sally North said on Friday there had been an increase in the number of long-term injuries in the sector in the last five years.
“Although we believe this increase is at least partly due to an increase in the number of sports and recreational facilities offering a diverse range of activities, we want to ensure that employers in the industry are aware of their responsibilities across the wide range of occupations they employ,” Ms. North said.
