Contractor suffers serious leg injury in workplace incident

A contractor was brought to a hospital with leg injuries after he was trapped by a piece of heavy machinery.

According to The Queensland Times, emergency services were alerted about the incident, which happened about 12:20pm on Wednesday after a sandblasting canister had fallen off a forklift and onto the victim’s lower leg.

The man was treated by paramedics before he was brought to Ipswich Hospital.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is investigating.
