A doctor from a rescue helicopter had to perform a delicate surgery on a man at a farm in South East Queensland Tuesday morning.
The Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter was called to a farm in the Scenic Rim region shortly before 9.30am.
The crew found emergency service personnel working on the man, who was trapped inside a skip, with his legs pinned by an auger.
The aeromedical team worked alongside Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) crews to try to free the man safely.
After consultation about the man’s condition, it was decided the LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor, and another doctor, would carry out surgery at the scene.
The man was later airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
