Farmer in hospital after tractor rollover

A farmer is recovering in hospital after the tractor he was operating rolled and pinned him beneath at a farm in north-east New South Wales.

The man in his 60s was working with a tractor at a farm about 27km north of Muswellbrook, Sunday morning when the incident took place.

Emergency crews found the man trapped under the tractor on Sunday night. He was pulled out from underneath the tractor and treated at the scene before being taken to Tamworth Rural Referal Hospital for further treatment.

Statistics show a total of 371 farm-related deaths were reported in NSW over the 15-year-period from 2001 to 2015.

The leading causes of death were tractors, quad bikes, farm utes, earthmoving and harvesting equipment, with children younger than 15 years accounting for 4% of tractor and 13% of quad incidents.
