Farming incident leads to airlift

A man was airlifted to hospital after a farming incident northwest of Wingham.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the scene of the incident Tuesday afternoon to treat the man for his injuries.

Reports indicated the man in his 40s was seriously injured when the pump he was working on exploded.

He was flown to the Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.

Farming is one of the most dangerous occupations in Australia. Statistics show only one in 10 workplaces are farms, yet they account for one-quarter of all work-related deaths.
