A man has been killed and another is in a critical condition after a tub of concrete fell from a crane at a construction site in Box Hill.
Emergency services were called to a construction site on Whitehorse Road about 12.20pm on Thursday after reports a crane, which had been carrying a tub of concrete, dropped its load into a pit where three men had been working.
Another worker, a 28-year-old Caroline Springs man, was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with critical injuries, while a 27-year-old Southbank man sustained minor injuries.
WorkSafe Victoria is investigating the incident.
WorkSafe Acting Executive Director of Health and Safety Paul Fowler said it would take time for the exact cause of the incident to be established.
“Cranes are complex, so there is a lot of careful work required to determine the cause of this tragic incident,” Mr. Fowler said.
