As the heatwave affecting NT continues, businesses and workers are reminded to take precautionary measures to protect their workers from heat-related illnesses.
Heat-related illnesses include heat rashes, heat cramps, dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
NT WorkSafe offers the following safety tips to help guard against heat-related illness:
- Drink water regularly.
- Use shade protection, a hat, and sunscreen.
- Check your personal protective equipment is appropriate for the type of work being done and the amount of sun you are exposed to.
- Schedule work to avoid the hottest part of the day.
- Share the workload.
