NT WorkSafe urges businesses and workers to take measures to prevent heat related illnesses

As the heatwave affecting NT continues, businesses and workers are reminded to take precautionary measures to protect their workers from heat-related illnesses.

Heat-related illnesses include heat rashes, heat cramps, dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

NT WorkSafe offers the following safety tips to help guard against heat-related illness:

  • Drink water regularly.
  • Use shade protection, a hat, and sunscreen.
  • Check your personal protective equipment is appropriate for the type of work being done and the amount of sun you are exposed to.
  • Schedule work to avoid the hottest part of the day.
  • Share the workload.
