A man has been injured in a quad bike incident in the southern Downs region.
The 70-year-old man suffered serious chest and internal injuries after rolling his quad bike in Wallangarra on Tuesday afternoon.
Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before transporting him to Tenterfield Hospital.
He was later transferred to the Gold Coast University Hospital for specialist treatment.
Safe Work Australia statistics show 115 people have lost their lives on quad bikes in Australia since 2011, and almost two-thirds of those have occurred on farms.
Of the ten quad bike fatalities that have occurred in 2017, over half involved rollovers, and two were children (aged 16 and under).
In 2016, there were 10 quad bike fatalities in Australia including workers and non-workers, and 50% of these were related to rollovers.
