Registration for the Safe Work Month activities this October is now open.
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland says Safe Work Month is a great time for employers and workers to recommit to safer, healthier workplaces.
This year’s event will commence with a free community breakfast on Wednesday, 2 October in Brisbane’s King George Square.
Nine industry breakfast forums with an extended half-day program will be done all throughout the month. Speakers will include psychologist Simon Brown-Greaves, Dr. Nicholas Mabbott on fatigue, Emma Howard on vicarious trauma and Keiran Flanagan with a boot camp session on building safety buy-in.
The Injury Prevention and Return to Work Conference on Wednesday 16 October is a full day of professional development and networking.
The 2019 conference will feature renowned keynote speakers including Donna Thistlethwaite, Dr. Lorimer Moseley, and Dr. Stafan Hajkowicz. Ground-breaking research and trends in workplace health and safety and return to work will be discussed including artificial intelligence, office design and the science of sleep and fatigue in the workplace. There will also be trade displays featuring sponsors and industry suppliers.
A Masterclass series will return this year on Tuesday, 15 October. The two-hour workshop will provide delegates with the opportunity to focus on key safety or return to work topics including obligations of supervisors, good work design for psychological injuries, resolving conflict, as well as current and emerging occupational lung disease.
