Safe Work Australia updates 2017 fatality figures

Transport leads all industries in 2017 total worker deaths.

Safe Work Australia has released the latest work-related fatality figures.

The new figures show as at 11 May, 57 Australian workers have been killed at work in 2017.

Transport, postal & warehousing workplaces have the highest number of workplace deaths, with 22 people killed so far.

Agriculture, forestry & fishing workplace have so far recorded 13 fatalities, while construction with 9 fatalities comes third.

Arts & recreation services workplaces have seen 3 fatalities this year.

The following workplaces have each two fatalities Mining, Electricity, gas, water & waste services, Public administration & safety and Manufacturing.

According to Safe Work Australia, Retail trade, and Accommodation & food services have each one fatality.
