In celebration of the National Farm Safety Week from 16-22 July, SafeWork SA will launch an intensive social media campaign aimed at ensuring the safety of farmers and rural workers at work.
The initiative was developed following a tragic six-week period on South Australian farms, where three people died in separate farm incidents.
The campaign will focus on the importance of ensuring safety in farms and will provide practical tips to reduce the physical and psychological risks associated with farming activities, particularly poor management of common hazards and seasonal work.
According to Safe Work Australia, the agriculture industry is one of the most dangerous industries to work in due to the combination of several hazards including plant, chemicals, noise, dust, sun exposure, working with animals.
