Teenage apprentice dies in Sydney scaffolding collapse

An 18-year-old apprentice has died after scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Macquarie Park on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the worksite about 12.20pm after scaffolding 15-17 metres in height collapsed on workers.

A 39-year-old man was rescued from the rubble and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The 18-year-old man died at the scene.

Police and SafeWork NSW are investigating the incident.
