A founding director of a construction and property development groups has been appointed as a member of the Order of Australia for his significant service to the building and construction industry in Western Australia, to occupational safety and health standards, and to professional associations.

Mr. George Barclay Allingame has more than 40 years in the industry and has served at several organisations including Westerns Australian Master Builders Association (President, 2008-2010); and Western Australian Commission for Occupational Safety and Health (Chair, since 2010).

“Health and safety is most important to the construction industry which, unlike say a factory, is an ever-changing work environment and continuous vigilance and adherence to the Project Risk Management System is essential,” Midland Reported Community quoted Mr. Allingame as saying.

Mr. Allingame who’s been in the industry for forty years now said he is passionate about promoting health and safety to make a difference in the community.

“I like being involved in community things and I think people should give back more to the community because so many people can benefit from it,” he said.

“You probably receive more in return than you give out and by being part of your community you also get to meet some great likeminded people.”
