WorkSafe ACT has issued three Prohibition Notices on a premise for fire, electrical safety, and hygiene (mould) issues.
The safety watchdog issued the notices following compliance inspections on brothels and adult entertainment venues in the ACT.
Dangerous fire safety issues were found with inadequate or out of date fire extinguishers and some blocked fire exits.
ACT Policing members attended and assisted WorkSafe in conducting their inspection after WorkSafe ACT was refused entry to one establishment.
ACT Work Safety Commissioner Greg Jones said 15 venues were checked on 16 and 17 January 2019 including follow up audits on the premises that were the subject of Prohibition Notices last year.
“Like any workplace, it is critical that these premises remain safe for workers and patrons and WorkSafe ACT will continue to proactively audit such venues to ensure compliance with health and safety responsibilities,” Mr. Jones said.
“I’d also like to remind workers that they can contact WorkSafe ACT at any time if they have concerns about safety in the workplace on phone 13 22 81.
“I’d like to thank ACT Policing for their support in this recent activity.”
