WorkSafe Victoria investigates crane incident

WorkSafe Victoria is currently investigating an incident in which a crane was damaged by high winds at a construction site in Lennox Street in Richmond on Monday.

Dozens of residents were evacuated as the 30-metre-high crane was in danger of collapse. Emergency services have established an exclusion zone around the area while damage to the crane is being examined.

WorkSafe is coordinating with the developer, principal contractor and the crane owner, who are currently preparing a plan for the crane’s safe removal.

Once the crane is removed safely, WorkSafe will investigate how the incident happened.
